National Fixed NESTs

Picture
The fixed national NESTs are the national reference centers for road safety actions. Different configurations have been tested, based on national needs and good practice developed in Iceland and best practices that have been implemented in Germany led by DVW.

The fixed national NEST is open to citizens of all ages and other stakeholders. It is also a place for sharing information between NGOs active in different fields of road safety. It will also be equipped with high quality equipment and material for training courses and discussion groups.

The project defined the application and sources to be offered in the NEST according to the target groups to be addressed. They concluded with the requirements on the technical issues, the actions to be implemented, the procedures that are being developed. Suppliers were also surveyed, offers requested and prices compare. Sponsors also had to be identified and approached. A number of technologically advanced equipment for demonstrating road safety: driving simulator, seat belt sledge, roll over simulator, Reaction test, special scales for demonstrating force during collision, alcohol goggles that simulate vision after alcohol consumption, children’s seat training car cabin, reflective material for night time visibility and other applications.
